DAC Legal and its predecessor firms have been part of our community’s history since 1907. Living and working locally the team at DAC Legal has always had a strong focus on contributing to the growth and prosperity of our district, its businesses, and its people.
The firm’s origins date back to when W C Hewitt began practice in Waipukurau in 1907. I W M Mackie joined him as a partner in 1913 followed by CGE Harker in 1919 and the firm became Lee Mackie Harker & Mackay in 1922. Dick Mackie became a partner in 1950 and Hugh Davidson followed in 1953.
John Armstrong became a partner in 1968 and by 1977 the firm was known as Davidson Mackie & Armstrong. In 1983, Dick left and John Campbell became a partner. The partnership changed its name to Davidson Armstrong & Campbell.
Hugh Davidson died in late 2001. Juliet van der Oord and Bridget Chrystall became partners in 2002. John Armstrong retired from practice in 2011.
The partnership between John Campbell, Juliet van der Oord and Bridget Chrystall was dissolved in early 2014 and John and Juliet formed a new partnership. Juliet retired in 2019 and the present law firm DAC Legal was incorporated with John, Bridie Tippett and Bodee Oliver as directors and Claire Murphy, a staff Senior Solicitor.
We are delighted with the lawyers and staff that we have in our team, all of which are very capable, resourced, knowledgeable and experienced.
